Eden Brown Synergy has exciting opportunities for Specialist Speech and Language Therapists with an interest to make a difference in enhancing communication skills for children and young people and help shape innovation services in SEN education.
Applications are open to Senior Specialist Speech and Language Therapists. Applications are open for Speech and Language Therapists looking to develop their skills over time with the support and training on offer. The opportunity could also be combined with other posts available nearby which can offer more mainstream experience or development opportunities in a wide range of service areas including AAC, ASD assessments and dysphagia.
The Speech and Language Therapist would be required to work as part of a MDT within a school, providing speech and language therapy services to children (aged 3-19) with SLCN, Learning Disabilities and complex needs, their families and a multi-agency team.
The Speech and Language Therapist will support universal best practice within the school as a whole, undertake assessments and deliver interventions directly and through others. Depending on skills and experience, the role may involve supervising Junior Speech and Language Therapists and STLAs.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Degree or Masters.
2. Registration with RCSLT and HCPC.
3. At least 2+ years' experience working as a Speech and Language Therapist with children with SLCN, complex needs, their families and the Multi-agency team.
4. Preferably worked with children with autistic spectrum disorder (ASD).
5. Preferably experience using AAC including signing and communication boards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide speech and language therapy services to children, directly and through support to their families and the multi-disciplinary team.
2. Provide speech, language and communication assessments for pupils/prospective pupils in consultation with the multi-disciplinary team and other SLTs and SLTAs.
3. Keep accurate records and provide written reports.
4. Set targets for therapy and monitor progress.
5. Provide intervention on an individual or group basis as required.
6. Develop and demonstrate SLT programmes and groups for pupils.
7. Hold responsibility for own caseload and be responsible for a defined area of the service, working without direct supervision.
8. Work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, contributing to the planning, development and delivery of an effective and efficient service.
9. Participate in clinical supervision within the team via regular meetings, supervision, mentoring and appraisals.
10. Engage in continuing professional development and implement service improvements and evidence-based practice.
11. Oversee SLT student placements.
12. Provide induction, supervision and support of SLTAs and volunteers.
13. Contribute to the development of SLT services and training.
14. Evaluate and monitor services to demonstrate impact and quality of services.
