Following retirement, the Street Cleansing team is seeking two Community Operatives on a permanent basis. This is a front-facing service role where we are looking for an individual who cares about their community and takes pride in their work, striving to go the extra mile, with a can-do, positive attitude to problem-solving.
We particularly welcome applications from the BAME community. Your primary duty will be based within our communities ensuring our community bins are maintained. In addition, you will take a proactive approach to litter picking, clearing dog fouling, and responding to customer reports of fly-tipping, sharps, and other hazardous waste. Part of this role will be to work cross-department, and therefore on occasion, you will also be treating weeds, grass cutting, and supporting in the maintenance of our parks, town centre, and operational highways.
This role will be physically demanding, involving heavy lifting, walking considerable distances, and working in all weather conditions while operating plant machinery on the highway. Due to the nature of the work, you will need to have a flexible approach to your working hours combined with a willingness to work evenings and weekends to meet the needs of the service, where enhancements will be payable.
As a mobile operative who will be mostly lone working, a current full UK driving licence is an essential requirement for this role along with the ability to manage your own time appropriately, working on your own initiative.
