As part of this continued growth we are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Development Engineering team. The successful candidate will have responsibility to support the further development of our Mechanical Engineering Design, specifically planning and integration of the chassis and vehicle body systems and structures with respect to hardware and component locations, routing of pipework, harnesses and control systems and the integration of these into new and existing vehicle designs. Key Tasks Work effectively within a cross-functional team in the overall vehicle development, ensuring that all components and systems are correctly integrated into the overall vehicle design. Responsible for the specification, selection and integration of chassis and systems components into new and existing vehicle designs. Undertake the technical assessment and analysis of the options available from component to system level. Recommend the optimal solution that satisfies chassis systems requirements whilst meeting overall vehicle objectives. Produce Creo models and assemblies of vehicle components and systems. Produce engineering detail drawings in Creo which can be issued to manufacturing and suppliers. Work with suppliers and partners to ensure that the chassis and system components can be integrated together to achieve the overall vehicle objectives and performance. Co-ordinate with the assembly and manufacturing teams to ensure that the chassis design is clearly defined and controlled. Manage the definition, execution and successful completion of verification and validation plans against specified requirements. Support the NPD Strategy for EV, FCEV and HEV vehicles and systems. Provide system technical information and documentation for both internal and external customers. Document, validate and provide FMEA information and analysis for design reviews and NPD gateways. Undertake the technical assessment and analysis of components and systems and develop optimal solutions to meet overall vehicle requirements. Provide Technical assistance to production, support engineers and the customer. Produce system layout drawings. Create Bills of Material, specifications and detailed designs Produce and manage component and systems specifications. Support prototype build, validation and product sign off. General Undertake all duties in line with General Data Protection and maintain utmost level of confidentiality. Ensure work is completed to meet the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard.
