We're looking for a Mechanical Engineering student to join our team in Horsham for an industrial year placement and contribute to all stages of the engineering process, including requirements capture, concept design, test and validation. Key Responsibilities: Produce mechanical designs for existing and new products using 3D Solid Works CAD package. Work from initial customer specifications to generate internal design requirements. Prove the viability of new concepts from first principles - providing supporting calculations and justifications for design decisions. Create rapid prototype models using inhouse capabilities. Communicate and work with multiple departments across the business. Test new or updated designs and document the results. Work with the production team to ensure all data related to the mechanical design is ready for procurement. Support prototype build and fault finding in production. Take part in design reviews and present own ideas. Identify and address risks within the design and development process. Assist project management, senior management and production with the successful running and administration of engineering projects. Skills & Experience Show creative problem-solving skills Be enthusiastic about engineering and the learning possibilities Have strong communication skills to contribute ideas to the business Be on course to achieve a strong degree in a related discipline. Experience in the use of a 3D CAD package. Have a good understanding of mechanical engineering and structural analysis. Have an appreciation of the integration of mechanics into complete systems.
