The Community Intravenous Therapy service works alongside a variety of specialist services within the community nursing services including District Nursing, Urgent Community Response Acute Hospitals and other specialist community services, with the aim of providing proactive, effective personalised care plan ensuring we have the right staff with the right skills in the right place at the right time.
The service enables our patients to stay at home, avoid a hospital admission and facilitates early hospital discharge.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Community IV Therapy team for an experienced Nurse to join the team as the Lead CNS, working across our unique service to help us make a difference to our patients. The post holder will be responsible for the overall management of the daily function of the service, both clinically and operationally, providing management and leadership support to the team members and working closely with the Lead for the Outpatients Antibiotic Team (OPAT). Your role will include supporting the Senior Matron responsible for the service and take an active role in the quality and governance agenda requirements of the service, including the oversight and response to incidents, complaints and patient safety agenda. The post holder will need to demonstrate current leadership and managerial experience and attained post graduate qualifications pertaining to this role.
Main duties of the job
1. Accountable for the maintenance of standards and professional practice.
2. Responsibility for the organisation and management of a defined specialist nursing service/professional leadership and management of staff.
3. Provide expert advice to patients referred for specialist intervention, care and support within the services, point of contact for assessment, information and advice for the patient, family and carers and all staff involved in the care of the patients.
4. Provide a clear clinical leadership, responsible for ensuring the provision of a high standard of holistic, patient-centred care supporting the development of staff through support formal education and training, practice development and role modelling.
5. Accountable for coordinating aspects of patient care, management of resources and performance of staff within a defined service or defined group of staff.
6. Use a range of techniques to ensure set and monitor standards of clinical practice, audit, research and teaching to set monitor and continually improve standards of care and patient experience.
7. Lead on nursing practice development including the development, and or updating of clinical guidelines, policy and procedure that relates to the practice setting.
8. Teach and act as a facilitator, mentor and supervisor to other staff.
9. Ensure safe and effective clinical practice and patient experience.
10. Lead, manage and develop team performance.
11. Delivery of organisational objectives.
12. Managing a devolved budget.

Essential
* Registered Adult / Child Nurse on the NMC Register.
* Evidence of post registration CPD / Post registration qualification in appropriate area of speciality or professional knowledge supplemented by specialist experience and short courses to degree / masters level equivalent FHEQ Level 6 /7.
* Recognised mentorship course.
* Non-medical prescriber or willing to work towards.
