Every childhood is worth fighting for. This is our belief. It drives us. And it's the reason our Children's Services team push themselves to transform the lives of children and families – in person, in service centres nationwide, and through the knowledge they share. Join us as a Family Engagement Worker and make a contribution that means everything.
We are looking to appoint a Family Engagement Worker with lived experience. We will support you to draw upon your own experience to promote best practice and help families access Infant, Parent Support. This role would be suitable for a person with good communication skills, and who is solution focused and keen to provide a high-quality experience for families.
This is an exciting opportunity to use your own knowledge and personal experience of involvement with social workers and/or services to influence and achieve change to make a positive difference for others and improve outcomes for children.
NSPCC are developing a new service to improve the mental health of Infants and young children. Collaborating with the University of Glasgow and funded by What Works in Children's Social Care, the project will trial a new service called Infant, Parent Support (IPS). This neuro-diverse and poverty informed service will test whether outcomes for families with infants under 5 who have a social worker can be improved by offering a relationship-based intervention at an earlier stage.
Responsibilities:
* Provide support and practical assistance to families, helping them to focus on achievable goals using a strengths-based approach.
* Enhance the relationships between professionals and families through working with parents and caregivers.
* Promote choice and opportunities to enable families to feel connected and valued in their assessment and support plan.
Minimum Requirements:
* Lived experience of care and/or support from services such as social work, either as an adult or as a child.
* Good communication skills.
* Solution-focused approach.
Join us and you'll become part of a team that cares about the work they do and the people they work with. You'll discover opportunities to grow, along with challenges and a shared purpose that'll bring the best out in you. And you'll get to find your own way to make a difference that means more, and that impacts millions of young lives.
Visits to the team are also welcome and encouraged upon prior arrangement.
