Job Overview:
The Project Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for overseeing cost control, procurement, and financial reporting across various construction projects. This role is integral to ensuring project profitability, maintaining strong subcontractor relationships, and delivering value to clients.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare, manage, and maintain accurate cost reports, including cost and cash flow forecasting.
2. Monitor project budgets and ensure financial targets are achieved.
3. Manage variations, assess changes, and implement effective cost control measures.
4. Oversee subcontract and material procurement, including preparing enquiries, conducting tender analysis, and placing orders.
5. Maintain subcontractor relationships by handling valuations, monitoring project changes, and managing final accounts.
6. Ensure that subcontract agreements align with project requirements and company standards.
7. Assist with estimating and pricing new project opportunities, providing accurate and competitive cost proposals.
8. Collaborate with project teams to align financial objectives with project delivery.
9. Liaise with clients and stakeholders, providing clear updates on project costs and financial status.
10. Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations in all financial processes.
11. Identify and implement proactive solutions to cost-related challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Essential:
1. A degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
2. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Quantity Surveyor role, preferably within construction or refurbishment projects.
3. Strong expertise in subcontract and material procurement, including tendering, analysis, and contract negotiations.
4. A comprehensive understanding of cost reporting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis.
5. Familiarity with construction contracts, variations, and change management.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with stakeholders.
Desirable:
1. Experience in refurbishment projects is highly advantageous.
2. Proficiency in project management software such as Procore or ASITE.
