Join a Local Planning Authority in Bedfordshire as a Technical Support Officer, where you'll be a key part of a close-knit team of six, ensuring the smooth running of planning processes and providing essential technical assistance.
About the Role
As a Technical Support Officer, you will work closely with our Planning Officers, providing administrative and technical support on planning applications and appeals. You'll be part of a collaborative team, helping to ensure compliance with planning regulations and delivering excellent service to residents, developers, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
·Manage and maintain the planning application system, ensuring accurate data entry and record-keeping.
·Validate planning applications and liaise with applicants to resolve technical issues.
·Provide advice and guidance to the public, applicants, and other stakeholders on planning processes and requirements.
·Assist Planning Officers by preparing reports, plans, and consultation letters.
·Monitor application progress and deadlines, ensuring timely responses and compliance with statutory targets.
·Support the team with administrative duties such as organising meetings, filing, and responding to enquiries.
·Collaborate with the team to improve processes and support digital transformation efforts within the department.
About You
·Experience: Previous experience in a planning, technical, or administrative support role is desirable.
·Skills: Strong IT skills, including experience with planning software and Microsoft Office. Excellent organisational and communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
·Knowledge: A basic understanding of the UK planning system and local authority procedures is an advantage but not essential.
·Personal Attributes: A team player who is proactive, adaptable, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
