Category Buyer
Our client, a forward-thinking international manufacturing company, is looking to recruit a driven, ambitious, and experienced Senior Category Buyer responsible for the management and development of high volume and fast-moving product streams.
Reporting directly to the Head of Procurement, you will be responsible for:
1. Increasing the volume and value of products sold within the specified categories.
2. Developing and managing the specific range within the portfolio of product categories.
3. Maintaining excellent supplier relationships with both new and existing suppliers.
4. Setting up and implementing supplier agreements with all key suppliers whilst ensuring the highest product quality and sales margins are achieved.
5. Working closely with internal stakeholders to identify and create opportunities for new products or new customers to maximize growth and profit opportunities.
6. Understanding key supply market drivers, market conditions, and trends for their category areas.
7. Accessing supplier data and information.
8. Understanding the analysis process and how to apply it to new situations.
9. Evaluating internal and external data, completing spend analysis, and providing insight.
10. Forecasting potential changes to the future requirements for their category areas.
11. Ensuring the strategy delivers ‘best value’ based on a combination of quality of product, service, and cost, and that the strategic sourcing process is applied consistently and appropriately.
12. Achieving Procurement savings and/or increasing company revenue.
13. Pro-actively reviewing and monitoring key suppliers in your portfolio, reviewing compliance data, identifying any supply risks, and mitigating through robust supplier development.
14. Working with the Compliance Manager to ensure products and suppliers meet the correct quality standard.
As a successful candidate, ideally, you will have prior experience within supply chain/purchasing and manufacturing, be a passionate self-starter who is able to move with speed to implement ideas and deliver results. You will also be an exceptional negotiator with the ability to build and maintain lasting client relationships, together with excellent organization, time management skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office packages, CRM, and Sage 200c would be an advantage, and working towards/qualified CIPS certification would be highly desirable.
