Brief Description
You’ll develop a range of skills, including leadership. Supporting a Works Delivery Manager, you’ll play a hands-on role in everything from quality and safety inspection, through to staff management.
About the role (External)
With a remit spanning inspection, maintenance and renewal, you’ll provide vital support to a Works Delivery Manager. Supervising the delivery of work, and carrying out inspections, you’ll be integral to keeping our assets compliant. You’ll take a hands-on role, assisting with the management of staff, checking the quality of work, and actively promoting safety. We’ll look to you to prioritise work during your shift, prepare work and resource specifications, and assist in the allocation of resources. Along the way, you’ll keep a range of systems, databases and records up to date. Crucially, as well as furthering your own skills, you’ll help others with their development.
Essential Criteria
* Experience of directing and supervising worksites and the safe and efficient delivery of work
* Knowledge of processes for planning and organising work and resources
* Knowledge of discipline-specific maintenance, inspection, faulting and renewal techniques
* Able to coach, influence and develop others
* Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
* Comfortable working shifts including days, nights and weekends
Desirable Criteria
* Hold or be working towards an NVQ level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject or have attained an appropriate level of knowledge through equivalent relevant experience
* Awareness of cost and waste control techniques
* Able and willing to drive vehicles as required by business need
This role involves days, nights and weekend working, and is a safety critical role so subject to drug and alcohol testing and passing of the relevant medical assessment.

All prospective candidates will be required to undergo and pass a drugs and alcohol test. Your application will be rescinded if you record a positive test. All positive drugs and alcohol test results for prospective candidates will be securely held on Sentinel database and a 5 year suspension from applying for a safety critical role, a role which requires PTS certification or a Key Safety role on Network Rail Managed Infrastructure will be enforced.
