Job Introduction
BBC Sport is at the heart of the World’s greatest sporting events, from World Cups to Wimbledon to the Olympics. As a Producer for the Live Streaming team you will be an integral part of delivering the department’s world class live digital offering across these events and more.
We are looking for an individual who can help develop our current rights portfolio and support our evolving digital strategy. The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of outputting live Sport events, leading teams, developing new workflows and creating new forms of content.
Being data-literate and curious about how audience trends are changing and driving viewing habits will be a key part of the role. You will be confident navigating new methods of delivery and be able to bring multiple departments together to work effectively. A wide sporting knowledge and a passion for content is essential for this role.
We want BBC Sport’s output to reflect and understand the audiences we serve - for example, the different geographical regions of the UK and the experience of people from underrepresented groups. We would therefore encourage applications from individuals with skills or experience that can help contribute towards ensuring we maximise the diversity of our coverage and content.
Main Responsibilities
6. Line management of assistant producers and journalism researchers on a day-to-day basis, including delegating tasks, setting objectives and managing performance.
7. Support the Content Editor with delivery of live sport on the iPlayer, online and digital platforms.
8. Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, developing editorial interests of the department, and seeking effective ways of working with other departments.
9. Work to project budgets in collaboration with production management staff to maintain efficient workflows.
10. Contribute and research potential events and opportunities for digital live output to support BBC Sport’s digital strategy.
11. Have excellent knowledge of new methods of broadcast delivery, and a keen interest in technological developments in this area.
12. Have a strong understanding of audience trends, particularly how audiences consume live Sport, applying this knowledge to our output.
13. Ability to lead and motivate teams to contribute ideas in line with BBC Sports Editorial vision.
14. Demonstrable experience of applying sound editorial judgement based on an understanding of the target audience and editorial guidelines.
15. A keen interest in working with colleagues in research and development and broadcast technology to produce effective and innovative solutions and innovations to output.
Are you the right candidate?
16. We are looking for an individual with significant experience of working in Live Sport production, event production or digital development.
17. You will have excellent sporting knowledge and a good understanding of digital delivery methods.
18. The successful candidate will be able to manage teams with various levels of experience, from different backgrounds and with different career goals. We take huge pride in our team culture and want to further develop this within the team.
19. You will be able to balance developing creativity and innovation with constant constructive feedback and innovation.
20. The right person will be an excellent communicator and be able to collaborate with teams across the department to maximise BBC Sports content reaching audiences.
21. You will naturally seek new innovative ways of working to drive BBC Sport’s digital strategy and have good technical knowledge to help design and develop appropriate broadcast solutions to deliver original digital content.

We want to attract the broadest range of talented people to be part of the BBC – whether that’s to contribute to our programming or our wide range of non-production roles. The more diverse our workforce, the better able we are to respond to and reflect our audiences in all their diversity.
