GSL Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a supportive school environment in Southampton, working with pupils who require additional support due to a variety of needs, including ASD, SEMH, ADHD, and communication difficulties.
About the Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will play a pivotal role in assisting pupils with specific learning needs in both classroom and one-to-one settings. You’ll be helping to create a nurturing and engaging atmosphere where pupils feel supported and confident in their learning journey.
Key Responsibilities:
* Providing tailored support to pupils with a range of SEN, both academically and emotionally.
* Assisting teachers in the delivery of engaging, differentiated lessons.
* Helping implement personalised learning plans under the guidance of the SENCo.
* Supporting positive behaviour management strategies.
* Promoting inclusion and building meaningful relationships with pupils.
* Liaising with parents, carers, and multi-agency professionals when required.
Job Requirements:
* Experience supporting children or young people with SEN in educational or care settings.
* A strong understanding of how to support pupils with SEMH, autism, ADHD or similar needs.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Calm, proactive, and flexible attitude to work.
* A relevant qualification (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching & Learning, or equivalent) is desirable.
* Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
