If you’re someone who inspires those around you, enjoys a challenge, and is a true ‘team player’ then this is the job for you.
Ideally, the ability to transcribe complex digital dictations and knowledge of medical terminology would be an advantage.
Main duties of the job
As a clerk typist in the AKU department, your role will be to support and liaise with the department's multidisciplinary team, working closely alongside the patient coordinator.
The clerk typist will type dictations from audio transcription of clinical correspondence and documentation, including writing reports following NAC week. The clerk/typist will perform a number of office duties as follows: photocopying, faxing, outgoing post, and retrieving case notes. Good telephone communication skills are required, acting in a professional manner.
The clerk/typist will liaise and communicate with members of the multidisciplinary team, being able to problem solve. The successful candidate will be involved in the NAC week and will be expected to be on hand during the NAC week to answer any patient queries, liaising with the relevant team members. The post holder will chaperone patients to and from assessments (this can include going off-site with a patient to one of our four locations around Liverpool).
Flexibility of working times is essential during the NAC week.
The post holder will prepare prescriptions to send to the medical team for signing, as well as preparing visit letters and pre-visit documentation to send out to patients. The successful candidate will be expected to attend appropriate training and education sessions when required.
The candidate will also work with clinical and non-clinical colleagues to deliver the best experience possible for our patients.
