Job Title: Domiciliary Care Worker
Location: Southport and surrounding areas
Reporting to: Care Manager
Job Purpose
To provide high-quality, person-centred care to individuals in their own homes, promoting independence, dignity, and well-being while adhering to CQC (Care Quality Commission) regulations and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Personal Care & Support
Assist with personal hygiene, including washing, dressing, oral care, toileting, and continence management.
Support with mobility, including the use of hoists and other equipment where required (full training provided).
Administer medication safely and in line with CQC medication guidelines and Collinson Care’s policies.
Provide support with eating and drinking, ensuring dietary needs and preferences are met.
Assist with end-of-life care where required, maintaining dignity and comfort.
2. Household Tasks & Daily Living
Support with light household duties such as cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation.
Assist with shopping, collecting prescriptions, and attending appointments as necessary.
Ensure service users’ homes are safe and comfortable.
3. Emotional & Social Support
Offer companionship and social engagement to reduce loneliness and enhance well-being.
Encourage participation in hobbies, activities, and community involvement.
Respect cultural, religious, and individual preferences at all times.
4. Compliance & Documentation
Maintain accurate and up-to-date care records in line with CQC and GDPR regulations.
Report any concerns regarding health, well-being, or safeguarding issues to management promptly.
Follow infection prevention and control measures, including proper use of PPE.
Comply with all CQC fundamental standards, including safety, dignity, respect, and person-centred care.
5. Communication & Teamwork
Liaise effectively with families, healthcare professionals, and other team members.
Participate in staff meetings, training, and supervisions to maintain high standards of care.
Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional boundaries at all times.
Requirements
Essential:
A caring and compassionate nature.
Good communication skills (both written and verbal).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Right to work in the UK.
Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
Commitment to ongoing training and development.
Desirable:
Previous experience in domiciliary care or healthcare.
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or willingness to work towards it).
Knowledge of CQC regulations and safeguarding procedures.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
