Graduate Psychology Teaching Assistant – What You’ll Be Doing:
• Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with SEN, focusing on their academic and emotional development
• Assisting students with specific learning needs, including behavioural challenges, communication difficulties, and social-emotional issues
• Helping students with revision, study techniques, and academic tasks in psychology and other subjects
• Supporting students in developing key life skills, such as social interaction, self-regulation, and problem-solving
• Encouraging students to engage with their learning, building their confidence and self-esteem
• Supporting the classroom teacher and SENCO in implementing tailored learning plans and strategies
• Working closely with parents and external professionals to ensure holistic support for each student
• Fostering a positive, inclusive, and focused learning environment where students feel safe and valued
Graduate Psychology Teaching Assistant – What We’re Looking For:
• A 2:1 degree or higher in Psychology (or a related subject)
• A genuine passion for working with children and supporting those with Special Educational Needs
• Understanding of psychological theories and approaches related to SEN and emotional/behavioural difficulties
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents
• Previous experience in tutoring or working with SEN children is desirable but not essential
• Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt your approach to meet the needs of individual students
• A proactive and flexible attitude, with a commitment to supporting students in their academic and personal development
• An interest in pursuing a career in education, psychology, or SEN
