An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Fire Safety team in the Health and Safety Directorate at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The Fire Safety Advisor (Annex 21) is a post for a highly confident, highly motivated and conscientious person to support the Trust in its compliance with HTM Firecode and all statutory legislation and guidance.
Main duties of the job
The role is a development role that will, on successful completion of training, allow the successful person to demonstrate excellent knowledge of Fire Safety, Fire Risk Assessments, Fire Legislation, Department of Health HTMs, Codes of Practice and Fire Safety Training. Also, a good understanding of Health and Safety legislation and its application in a healthcare setting.
Specific responsibilities will include:
1. Undertaking intrusive Fire Risk Assessments and developing associated action plans.
2. Arranging evacuation drills.
3. Delivering the Trust fire safety training program (including organising, preparing and delivering training sessions).
4. Liaison with the local Fire Service.
5. Attending and investigating fire calls (including recording and monitoring for trends).
6. Preparing fire safety reports.
7. Incident report investigation.
8. Providing reports for and attendance at relevant Trust meetings.
9. The provision of fire safety information and expert advice to all staff and advising local management on technical fire safety matters.
Job responsibilities
Upon completion of the Annex 21 program the role holder will:
1. Be responsible for bringing Fire Safety specialist service to the Trust, working autonomously and accountable to the Head of Operations.
2. Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and guidance.
3. Write, manage and monitor the Fire Safety Policy and protocols.
4. Develop, manage, deliver, monitor and review all Fire Safety training.
5. Ensure a fully trained fire team available at all times on both sites.
6. Investigate fire-related incidents and Datixa.
7. Giving advice on Fire Safety throughout the Trust.
8. Conduct Fire safety audits and Risk Assessments (FRA).
9. Fire Safety Training.

Qualifications
Essential
* Fire Safety degree or extensive practical experience and appropriate national training i.e. Specialist Fire Safety Course at FS College.
* Specialist Fire Safety Inspecting Officers Course at the Fire Service College.
* Training in Healthcare Fire Safety.
* Fire Investigation course at Fire Service College.
* Member of professional organisation (IFE).
Desirable
* Registered as a fire risk assessor with a recognised accredited body.
Experience
Essential
* Working across organisation boundaries to improve standards.
* Working with external agencies and influencing change.
* Experienced in undertaking various types of fire risk assessments.
* Experienced in operating at senior management levels.
* Extensive experience in preparing and delivering training/ Fire Safety surveys.
Knowledge

* Subject matter expert with extensive knowledge and ability to interpret and assure compliance with The Fire Safety Order, Firecode and Building Regulations.
Desirable
* Knowledge of fire modelling techniques.
* Knowledge of fire risk management techniques.
* NEEBOSH or similar H& S qualification.
