The Public Safety Group’s role is to keep the public safe by cutting crime, disrupting the highest harm criminals, protecting the vulnerable and ensuring that our police, fire, and rescue services are as efficient and effective as they can be in delivering front line public services. We collaborate with our partners in other government departments, local government, and the voluntary sector to develop and implement policy, provide funding, and deliver legislation.

We collaborate with our partners in law enforcement, establishing governance arrangements at a national, regional, and local level.
We are looking for proactive, resilient, and adaptable individuals who can get to grips with new subject areas quickly, have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and are able to communicate complex ideas clearly.
You will need to be confident working independently and able to lead the delivery of challenging areas of work, often to tight timescales, balancing different but equally important priorities. You will need to be adept at developing and maintaining good relationships with demanding stakeholders and confident communicating with seniors.
The role will primarily be within the Serious and Organised Crime (SOC) Funding and Assurance team. This team plays a vital role in the sponsorship of National Crime Agency (NCA) and Regional Organised Crime Units (ROCUs), with a focus on resourcing decisions. It is a challenging role in which candidates will have the opportunity to stretch themselves on their understanding of how finance and policy intersect in government. In this challenging environment, the jobholder will be expected to adapt to the changing priorities of ministers on a variety of issues from Organised Immigration Crime to tackling cyber-crime.
The main responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
* Drafting the NCA’s budget delegation letter by April 2025.
* Making the quarterly payments to ROCUs and maintenance of relationships with key stakeholders.
* Drafting written submissions for ministers.
* Briefing senior leaders and ministers (verbal and written).
* Preparation of grant agreements between Home Office and ROCUs
* Supporting the process for NCA’s pay settlement.
Other governance and relationship management functions as required.
Work Patterns
This role is available on a full-time basis with the option of compressed hours working. This role is also suitable for part-time working hours, with a minimum requirement to work 30 hours per week due to business requirements.
