Inspiring, engaging and developing a team of healthand safety professionals, ensuring resources are deployed to besteffect and that talent is managed and developed Leading the development and implementation ofhealth and safety strategy, policy and objectives, communicatingand driving them through the organisation and supply chain Leading the development and implementation ofinnovative health and safety change programmes, embedding a cultureof continuous improvement and the sharing of best practices workingdirectly with our business areas and suppliers whennecessary Looking both forward and backward anticipating andreviewing trends and developing strategies and engagements tomanage these. Collaborating with line leaders within our businessto understand key risks and putting in place programs to make ussafer thus enabling leaders to effectively manage health and safetywithin their area ofresponsibility
* Collaborating with keystakeholders, at all levels of the organisation as well as ouronsite supplier partners, influencing them to integrate health andsafety into their business processes and ensuring health and safetyfactors are appropriately considered during decision making, atstrategic and operationallevel
Developing, maintaining and deploying a health andsafety management system (including policies, processes andassurance) that meets the requirements of BAE Systems OperationalFramework and International health and safety standards (such asISO45001) and supports the achievement of organisationalgoals Providing robust, impartial and independent healthand safety assurance programmes for determining compliance with allrelevant legal, BAE Systems Operational Framework and health andsafety Management Systemrequirements Ensuring effective regulatory compliance for theLine of Business or Sector, and provide leadership for effectiveregulator engagement
* Representing ourbusiness area at the relevant Functional Council, providingappropriate contribution to the making of health and safety policydecisions and consequential implementation ofthem

Essentialskills:
* Comprehensive andcontemporary technical understanding of health and safetymanagement standards andpractice
Experienced health and safety professional with astrong understanding of health and safety requirements, internaland external best practice and able to bring their experience toarticulate these in order to influence leadership teams and thosein key roles in theorganisation High degree of stakeholder management and abilityto communicate and inspire across many different levels of theorganisation, sites, business areas and mix of suppliers andemployees Typically holds a minimum of five yearspost-qualification experience and more than ten years’ experiencein applying health and safety knowledge and processes inwork-relatedsituations
Desirableskills:
* Chartered membership ofan appropriate professional health and safetyinstitution

The SHE team: This role is supporting Shared Services and Headoffice. Thereare not only office-based staff, but also staff and suppliers whoare based on sites in manufacturing areas providing FacilitiesManagement, Infrastructure programmes and Early Careers and skillsprograms. You will have excellent exposure to all areas ofBAE Systems in this capacity, which means there will be a lot ofvariation and no two days will be the same. You will have thechance to influence the team and the shared services strategy forSHE operations.
