Job summary Secondment opportunity until September 2025 A very rare and excising opportunity has arisen to work with the North Mersey Stroke Service with the Liverpool Stroke recovery partnership/ESD team. You will provide early intervention assessment, treatment planning and rehabilitation to stroke survivors. While other patients on the caseload will require creative thinking, problem solving and providing of equipment/adaptations to support them to remain in thei own home, adjust to meeting care needs in the community and avoid hospital re-admission or step up to 24hr care. You will be part of a supportive MDT working alongside physios, nurses, Speech therapists, dietitians, therapy assistants and assistant practitioners with access to stroke consultants when required. You will lead a team of OTs providing supervision, appraisal, training and service improvement, Any training you require to fulfil this post will be available to you along with regular supervision from a therapy lead Main duties of the job Expert assessment and rehabilitation of complex stroke patients including the following aspects; neurological assessment and rehabilitation techniques, cognitive assessment and rehab skills, transfer equipment & posture management, splinting, fatigue management, anxiety management and support with returning to drive/work Training and support of the Stroke MDT in the management of the complex patient Develop and promote the role of the Occupational Therapist within Stroke including service development projects and outcome reporting Audit of the service against local and national standards in close partnership with the management team Training and support of junior staff members across the stroke pathway Senior oversight of a therapy team including aspects such as performance reporting, sickness management and supervision Participation in the Stroke Network Participation in national audit and research projects Ensure adherence to governance processes including datix and complaint investigations Support staff with health, wellbeing and sickness management About us Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust comprises Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital & Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
