About the job
The candidate will be a part of a small and dedicated team based in Fort William. The main purpose of the role is to prepare, analyse and report on key financial data ensuring that our key budget holders receive timely, accurate and relevant information. This role requires a highly motivated individual who is willing to work hard in order to gain experience and progress their accountancy career. The role will be highly rewarding and will include opportunities for local and/or international career progression.
The main duties of the role include, but are not limited to:
* To assist the Financial Controller and Management Accountant with the preparation of monthly results and maintain a high level of deadline attainment;
* To support in strategic and tactical company development with financial analysis, project appraisal and other financial information;
* To assist Senior and Farm Managers in the preparation of annual budgets and monthly cash flow forecasts;
* To assist Senior and Farm Managers in the control of cost and expenses against previously agreed budgets;
* To produce timely and reliable management information reports on a monthly basis;
* To investigate variances against budgets and provide analysis of differences on a monthly basis;
* To challenge any variances directly with key budget holders;
* To attend site/operational meetings and ensure financial guidance to farm managers;
* To assist the Financial Controller and Management Accountant with routine and ad hoc tasks.
What are we looking for?
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous experience to continue developing, with full study support and progression available.
The successful candidate will likely have the following skills and experience:
* Educated to degree level or equivalent is required;
* Working towards, or have achieved, CIMA, ACCA, or any other industry recognised financial designation;
* Modern IT skills highly beneficial (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Power BI, Word, Outlook) – willingness to learn these if not already adept;
* High level of task organisation;
* Financial work experience not a prerequisite (assuming evidence of strong academic performance);
* Previous use of cloud storage technology would be advantageous but not essential;
* Understanding of sustainability issues also advantageous but not essential;
* Flexibility is key in this role in order to ensure that all deadlines are met.
