The purpose of this role is to ensure as an Agency we comply with our software obligations in terms of licenses. The role is also responsible for assessing future need based on known changes as well as advising the SLM on software related issues. The ITAM Lead will also be responsible for creating and maintaining software licensing policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance and to optimize license usage to ensure value for money.
The ITAM Lead will ensure that software licenses are updated and assigned to the individual’s asset within the ITSM Tool and the SAM (Software Asset Management) function. Software Licenses are properly controlled and that accurate and reliable information about them is reportable and available when needed.
The role holder will work closely with Suppliers, change managers, request fulfilment, architecture, security, finance, and procurement to ensure that license expiry and renewals are managed in a timely manner. Sufficient licenses are available to avoid any delay in authorising new users, to meet changing requirements and are available to cover the operation of configuration items.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Work in collaboration with the IT Asset Manager in developing and creating Policies and Processes which are aligned to the SDI (Service Desk Institute) best practice to control and manage software assets.
* Hold regular reviews to understand the business need and justification for software, liaising with internal stakeholders and owners in advance of licence renewal, challenging where the need is unclear or not apparent.
* Responsible for procurement of licences where needed through the agreed procurement route.
* Monitor software usage to ensure that licences are still required and relevant to users and are reclaimed where applicable.
* Responsible for ensuring that we have End User Licencing Agreements (EULA), have a full understanding of the terms we have signed to.

Additional Information
Whilst we welcome applications from those looking to work with us on a part time basis, there is a business requirement, for the successful candidate to be able to work at least 30 hours per week.
This role can be based in Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Newcastle, Nottingham or Swansea, your presence at one of these locations will form part of the working arrangements agreed with you. This role is suitable for hybrid working, and therefore a combination of workplace and home-based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements. Hybrid working is a non-contractual arrangement where employees have the flexibility to work remotely combined with a minimum of 60% of their working time a month at either their principal workplace (one of the locations cited in the advert) or, when required for business reasons, to carry out separate duties at alternative working locations or DVSA sites. There may be occasions where you are required to attend above the minimum expectation.
