Job overview
An opportunity has arisen for a skilled, enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Therapy Team. To provide a high-quality therapy focused service within a multidisciplinary team, delivering a flexible approach to patient care in an inpatient setting.
The therapy team consists of Occupational therapists, Physiotherapists, assistant practitioners, and therapy support workers. The service consists of a 26 bedded inpatient ward and the therapy service is a 7-day service.
As a band 4 assistant practitioner, you will be working alongside the therapists to deliver interventions as well as holding and managing a given caseload.
You will be experienced in working in a multi-disciplinary / multi-agency health or social care environment with knowledge of basic IT administration systems including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc).
You will be patient-focused and have the ability to carry out comprehensive holistic assessments and be able to prioritise and make sound decisions, sometimes under pressure.

Main duties of the job
* To provide holistic and person-centred care and support community patients in an acute setting.
* To support the qualified therapist (Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist) in providing a high standard of Therapy intervention following protocols agreed by professional colleagues.
* To perform screening assessments and treatment programmes as per agreed protocols with delegated patients.
* To hold responsibility for own delegated caseload following discussion with the therapist.
* To work within a competency framework to ensure safe practice.

Person specification
Qualifications
* Literacy and numeracy grade 4-9 (A-C)
* 3 A-Levels or Health and Science (or equivalent) or T-Level or equivalent level 3 qualification(s) and Functional Skills (level 2) or as a level 3 apprenticeship, such as the Senior Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship (or other level 3 qualification pathway e.g. NVQ 3/BTEC equivalent in relevant healthcare subject or experience).
* Assistant Practitioner Level 5 course modules and clinical competencies or Assistant Practitioner Health Higher Apprenticeship or willing to commence in the first year of employment.
* Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the principles of rehabilitation.
Knowledge & Skills
* Knowledge of therapy intervention acquired through training or experience within a healthcare setting.
* Ability to work independently to an agreed protocol/treatment programmes following discussion with a qualified therapist.
* Ability to organise and prioritise own caseload and working day.
* Able to make accurate and legible entries into patient and therapy notes.
Experience
* Demonstrable experience of working within a clinical setting.
* Experience delivering personal and clinical care.
