Position: Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant
Location: Based in SG8, accessible by car from Royston, Buntingford, Letchworth, North London, and surrounding areas.
Employment Type: Temporary to Permanent - following a successful probation period, candidates may be offered a permanent role by the headteacher.
Salary: £85 - £110 per day (depending on experience).
Hours: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday. Full-time availability is essential due to the needs of the students.
Role:
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistants to join our team, supporting students at SEN schools in Meldreth (Hertfordshire) and the surrounding areas. These schools cater to students aged 5-19 with diverse needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Global Developmental Delay (GDD), and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Senior Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) and Teachers to prepare resources aligned with individual learning objectives.
- Provide one-to-one support for skills-based learning under the supervision of the class teacher.
- Monitor and document student progress using evidence-based methods in collaboration with the teaching team.
- Support students in achieving their learning goals and encourage independence in practising new skills.
- Ensure students are engaged and their well-being is prioritised during learning activities.
- Assist students across the school as required.
- Provide personal care and support, including physical interventions where necessary, for students with physical disabilities.
- Maintain a safe learning environment by adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures.
What We're Looking For:
- Minimum GCSE qualifications in English and Maths.
- Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but not essential.
- A genuine passion for working with children in an educational setting.
- Flexibility and a willingness to support the whole school community in daily operations.
- A proactive approach, with the ability to use initiative and adapt to the needs of students.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
