The role of Deputy Shop Manager is integral to the expansion and innovation project, whilst generating the much needed income to support 6000 people every year across Sheffield.We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, experienced and motivated Deputy Shop Manager to join the retail team. You will be responsible for supporting the Shop Manager in managing the Woodseats shop.Strong communication skills are essential, to lead a team of staff and volunteers from different backgrounds, to promote the work of St Lukes and highlight the benefits of sustainability. Being a leader and motivator who has the ability to resolve problems, make decisions with a positive attitude, and deal sensitively in difficult or distressing situations is essential.Having the knowledge, the experience and determination to exceed budgets, monitoring costs, and an ability to work commercially within the retail sector are key components to the role.Being able to form good relationships is essential, as is the need to build upon the positive reputation of St Lukes with current and new supporters and colleagues, engage and work alongside key stakeholders.

Job responsibilities

Premises2.1Ensure the shop has a high standard of display, and encourage regular change of stock turn to ensure fresh innovative displays to improve kerb appeal, footfall and sales.2.2To ensure volunteers are aware of the importance and the implementation of correct merchandising techniques.2.3Ensure shop premises are clean and tidy at all times and that goods are displayed in an attractive, presentable and safe manner.2.4To ensure a floor walk is carried out daily of the premises to maintain all statutory responsibilities are met, including Fire and Health & Safety Regulations and the general upkeep of the building.2.5Hold shop keys, and in the absence of the Shop Manager, open and close the premises for trading hours and respond to any emergency call outs if and when necessary.3. Stock3.1To ensure that the shop has sufficient saleable stock and work with the Shop Manager to increase donations of stock where necessary.3.2To ensure positive action is taken to generate donations from the general public and other sources to maximise the stock density on the shop floor.3.3To implement the correct rotation of stock for the shop and to help coordinate the ethical disposal of waste materials.3.4To oversee the Function and PAT testing of all small electricals3.5To oversee the WEEE directive as and when its applicable.3.6To ensure that stock/ sorting areas are efficiently and safely organised.3.7To monitor stock turn around/ stock control onto the shop floor.3.8To arrange and monitor the effectiveness of re-cycled stock.3.9To ensure that the shop is not selling prohibited items.3.10Generate stock donations to meet sales requirements; accept, sort, price and display stock in accordance with St Lukes guidelines.3.11Maintain stocks of new goods for sale with advice from the Shop Manager and Area Shop Manager.3.12Accurately record all donations and produce analysis so that commercial relay decisions can be made.3.13The role will require manual work, which includes moving stock.3.14Price stock at a consistent level in accordance with St Lukes price guides.
