Job Summary
We are currently seeking an experienced IT Configuration Engineer, based in Wigan Warehouse.
The Configuration Engineer will be responsible for configuring, testing, and troubleshooting end user compute devices (laptops, mobiles etc) before deployment to the end user.
Responsible for the storeroom and regular stock takes of customer assets.
Key Accountabilities
1. Configure, test, and troubleshoot laptops, desktops, thin clients & mobile devices.
2. Maintain stock levels, performing weekly & monthly stock checks
3. Manage device secure disposal with 3rd party suppliers
4. Monitor system performance and ensure that the system is up to date with build images.
5. Liaise with customers, vendors and suppliers to resolve any issues with hardware/build images.
6. Adhere to all relevant security policies and procedures.
7. Define and enhance processes when it comes to asset management.
8. Apply a continuous improvement to asset management.
9. Ensure effective management of the CMDB and that the content contained is accurate.
10. Perform daily and long-term operational and strategic management of hardware and software.
11. Provide KPI/Metric information on stock deployment.
12. Take part in various projects, providing support with regards to assets.
13. Manage inventory of CIs and assets.
14. Responsible for managing lifecycle of hardware and software models in the CMDB, taking direction from the asset manager.
About you:
1. Strong knowledge of IT software and hardware experience within a service desk environment.
2. Proven ability and experience configuring Windows devices using SCCM and Intune.
3. Strong knowledge of Request fulfilment processes.
4. Strong ability to carry out assigned tasks independently with little supervision.
5. Excellent at performing multiple tasks at the same time without erring.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
8. Ability to work on own as needed.
