The main duties of this apprenticeship include;
Assisting the clerks and barristers
1. Helping clerks to fulfil their duties and assisting in the smooth and efficient running of the Clerks room.
2. Assisting the Barristers and helping them with their daily needs.
3. Assisting Barrister when attending Court (Carrying of documentation & Books.)
Handling post
4. Receipt and Distribution of Post
5. Parcelling of post and DX
6. Dealing with post/franking machine including trips to the post office
General office duties
7. Processing of incoming and out going emails, scanned documents & faxes
8. Collection and distribution of briefs and instructions
9. Photocopying and filing of documentation
10. Answering telephones
11. Be the on call person/contact for telephone and IT issues
12. Paying in cheques at the bank
13. Eventually Mags/Pattison Law type billing plus assisting all other Clerks with any ad-hoc assistance (heavily supervised at least to begin with)
14. Reception of clients and making of tea and coffee
15. Ordering and checking stock etc for Stationery (including hand towels)
16. Ordering and checking stock for coffee, tea, sugar, water and biscuits
17. Set up/prep conference rooms
18. Confidential waste
19. Collar Cleaning
20. General tidiness of Chambers
21. Organise and facilitate strong room clear out and company to take away broken computers/chairs etc
22. If they could organise for ad hoc repairs (electricians, plumbers – we have regular firms so would just be a call or email to arrange call out and then supervise call out) the external doors, that would be helpful.
Requirements:
Applicants should be literate and numerate. Grade C/4 and above in English Maths and IT are required

Business Administration Level 3 Standard
