The Opportunity
Join Aggregate Industries as an Assistant Plant Manager, where you’ll play a key role in supporting the Plant Manager and ensuring smooth operations across our express asphalt plant at Salford. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop leadership skills while contributing to high-quality production, safety excellence, and exceptional customer service. 1. Oversee daily operations in the absence of the Plant Manager, including staff meetings, audits, and liaising with senior management.
2. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards through proactive leadership, incident reporting, and safety tours.
3. Manage plant maintenance, staff schedules, and operational efficiencies to meet business targets and customer expectations.
4. Maintain adherence to ISO9001 and ISO14001 accreditations, and ensure the plant operates in compliance with permits and quality plans.
5. Contribute to delivering the Express Asphalt customer experience, focusing on high standards of service and satisfaction.
6. Conduct and oversee risk assessments, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and identifying areas for continuous improvement in operations and safety standards.
Who You Are
You’re a motivated and detail-oriented professional with experience in plant operations and a strong commitment to safety and quality. Your leadership skills and ability to manage both people and processes make you an ideal candidate. Here’s what makes you a great fit:
1. Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental standards, with experience in implementing policies and procedures.
2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to liaise effectively with teams, management, and external stakeholders.
3. Organised and pragmatic, with a proven ability to manage resources, schedules, and operational priorities.
4. IT literate, with knowledge of systems and reporting tools to manage data and performance.
5. Experience in maintenance planning and familiarity with compliance requirements, including BSI audits and IPPC permits ideally.
