Edinburgh West team covers areas such as Balerno, Edinburgh West End, Maybury, Sighthill.
Minimum Age Requirement: Since this is a registered service with the Care Inspectorate, all applicants must be at least 18 years old.
Main Purpose:
The main purpose of this post is to provide a caring, efficient and effective 24/7 support service to people who use The Action Group’s Services. This includes assisting people to develop their skills by supervising and participating in various support activities in a way that enriches their opportunities and promotes choice.
About the Role
Specific Duties
1. Practice the TAG Key Worker system, organizing support plans/case reviews as required for individuals we support.
2. Promote the physical and emotional wellbeing of the people we support at all times.
3. Develop meaningful and trusting relationships with the people we support.
4. Encourage independence in daily living activities wherever possible.
5. Promote people’s hobbies, interests, and activities.
6. Directly assist with personal care as required.
7. Work with individuals to maximize their ability to communicate effectively.
8. Advocate on behalf of the people we support when needed.
9. Work with relatives and carers of people we support.
10. Find out about local services, amenities, and organizations available to people we support.
11. Participate flexibly in various shift work patterns.
12. Undertake ‘sleepover’ or ‘waking night’ duties when required.
13. Cover short-term absences of Support Workers in other teams as needed.
