A unique opportunity has arisen to join a forward-thinking council within their Planning and Building Control department as a Major Projects Officer. The role is a Monday-Friday, 6-month contract, Outside IR35, with Hybrid working in Nottinghamshire.
Your new role
As a Major Projects Officer, you will:
1. Manage and oversee major planning applications, ensuring high-quality developments that benefit the local economy, environment, and community.
2. Lead on Section 106 agreements, negotiating contributions toward affordable housing, public spaces, and transportation improvements.
3. Represent the council at planning appeals, hearings, and tribunals.
4. Work collaboratively with stakeholders, promoting investment and regeneration across the district.
5. Provide expert guidance on complex planning matters while supervising and supporting a dedicated team.
What you'll need to succeed
To excel in this role, you should bring:
1. A minimum of 3 years' experience in town planning, with demonstrable expertise in handling complex applications.
2. Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or eligibility to attain it.
3. Strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills, with a proactive approach to achieving results.
4. A commitment to delivering excellent customer service and contributing to the council's wider objectives.
