Apply now for the position of Lead Lawyer in the Legal Contract Management team and you will have the exciting opportunity to use your legal skills and commercial acumen in an innovative sector with a leading global brand.
Your Role:
1. Lead on the drafting and negotiation of change controls for complex and high value changes to our PFI and MES contracts.
2. Lead, advise, review, and manage complex and high value disputes on operational contracts.
3. Act as a coach and mentor within the team supporting the team lead.
4. Support the Head of Legal Contract Management on strategic initiatives and lead some of these initiatives.
5. Consolidate commercial feedback and properly reflect such feedback by marking up and providing commentary on change controls, supplier contracts, and other commercial agreements.
6. Provide contract reviews and analysis to the business in relation to general contractual matters including potential or actual disputes.
7. Lead, draft and negotiate contract schedules both pre and post bid including incorporating relevant feedback from the business.
8. Prepare (and as relevant present) executive contractual summaries for complex and high value projects you are supporting, identifying key risks and mitigations and interfacing with headquarters on such projects and preparing for internal governance sign off processes.
9. Support procurement as appropriate with the negotiation and drafting of high value or unusual contracts.
10. Support (as required) business areas in relation to contractual reviews on new business.
11. Mentor and share your skills and experience with members of the team and support where required.
12. Develop precedents, playbooks, and process checklists for common types of contractual changes and disputes with a view to reducing future non-conformance costs.
13. Prepare executive contractual summaries for projects identifying key risks and mitigations.
Your Expertise:
1. Degree educated, or equivalent.
2. Fluent in spoken and written English.
3. Legally qualified to practice law in England and Wales.
4. Significant experience of leading the reviewing, drafting, and negotiating complex high value contracts without the need for legal supervisory support.
5. Strong communication skills; a highly motivated team player; analytical, professional, and proactive.
6. Ability to understand complex contractual matters and explain them in a clear understandable manner to business stakeholders.
7. The ability to work as part of a cross functional team as well as working independently.
8. The ability to coach and mentor members of a team.
9. The ability to think strategically about complex topics and push forward with strategic topics.
