Your Role: Driving Operational Excellence
As Operations Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the Kemsley plant. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will lead a skilled team, drive process improvements, and help shape the future of energy recovery at enfinium.
Key Responsibilities:
* Empowering People – Recruit, mentor, and develop an engaged operations team, ensuring they have the skills and confidence to succeed.
* Optimising Performance – Lead plant operations, continuously seeking ways to enhance efficiency, reliability, and productivity.
* Managing Budgets & Costs – Control departmental expenditure, drive cost efficiencies, and implement financial improvement plans.
* Championing Safety & Compliance – Ensure that health, safety, and environmental best practices are embedded in everything we do, maintaining compliance with the site Environmental Permit.
* Responding to Challenges – Act as a Senior Authorised Person, managing plant breakdowns, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring a robust emergency response plan is in place.
* Innovating for the Future – Identify opportunities for plant and process improvements, implementing innovative and commercially viable solutions.

Your Experience & Qualifications:
* Technical Expertise – Degree or Higher National Diploma/Certificate in a relevant Engineering discipline (Mechanical or Electrical) or equivalent experience.
* Operational Leadership – Proven experience leading multi-disciplined teams in a complex process-driven environment, ideally in energy, power, or heavy industry.
* Industry Knowledge – Strong understanding of combustion, steam, and water systems, with hands-on experience in plant operations.
* People Leadership – A natural leader who fosters teamwork, develops talent, and drives a positive workplace culture.
* Financial Acumen – Experience in managing budgets and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
* Safety-First Approach – Comprehensive knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation and best practices.
* Innovative Problem-Solving – A proactive mindset, with the ability to analyse challenges, make data-driven decisions, and implement effective solutions.

Who are enfinium?
enfinium is one of the largest energy-from-waste businesses in the UK and an industry leader in the conversion of non-recyclable residential and business waste into heat and partially renewable power. enfinium currently has a platform of six (two in construction) strategically located facilities across the UK. Today, enfinium has an annual waste processing capacity of over 2.3 million tonnes, and a total combined electric generating capacity of 265MW (gross) - enough energy to power more than 500,000 UK homes. enfinium is owned by infrastructure investment funds managed by Igneo Infrastructure Partners
Kemsley is a combined heat and power facility that processes up to 657,000 tonnes of residual waste. This produces enough energy to power more than 160,000 UK homes and businesses. Kemsley also provides steam to DS Smith to support their renewable energy requirements.
