Here at Southport and Ormskirk we are actively working towards securing accreditation through the Joint Advisory Group (JAG) on Gastrointestinal Endoscopy as high-quality gastrointestinal endoscopy service. If you are looking to join an energetic and vibrant department that truly makes a difference to people's lives on a daily basis, we would like to hear from are looking for an experienced Endoscopy Nurse or you are an existing Band 5 who wishes to have a career change and want to work in a more specialist area of nursing and have further career development, with a passion for learning Endoscopy.

You will be working as part of a friendly, welcoming and expert Multidisciplinary Endoscopy Team who are friendly, enthusiastic and encouraging in a happy working environment.Mentoring, training and guidance will be provided to the successful candidate.

Main duties of the job
1. Provides and receives complex information, communicating sensitively and confidentially information relating to patients/clients (for example, care plan discussions with patients).
2. Communicates in a compassionate and empathetic manner, using persuasion and Reassurance.
3. Ability to recognise barriers to communication, and ability to modify communication style as and when required.
4. Ability to effectively communicate whilst providing training to students.
5. Demonstrate effective communications skills with the wider MDT team.
6. Maintain appropriate levels of training for clinical skills as needed within scope of practice.
7. To maintain safe custody of drugs, ensuring that checking, witnessing and administration procedures are compatible with statutory and trust requirements.
8. In the absence of Sister/Charge Nurse effectively respond to complaints/concerns and escalate as required.
9. To ensure clinical incident/near misses are managed and reported and escalated in a timely manner.
10. To be part of the multidisciplinary team decision making, acting when required as the patients advocate in order to support the patient's pathway.
11. Work within the organisational policy, standard operating procedures and guidelines.

KEY DUTIES CONTINUED...
20. To undertake risk assessments and implement risk reducing measures. To report and escalate to the Line Manager any deficiencies in the arrangements for minimizing risk.
21. Ensure that privacy, dignity and safety of individuals is maintained at all times.
22. To actively participate in the effective and efficient use of the ward/departmental resources and equipment, including stock management and care and maintenance of equipment.
23. Handles patients valuables, ensuring safe storage and transportation.
24. Sign off agency timesheets in order to verify and record the hours worked.
25. Liaise with the Roster Coordinator to ensure your personal roster is balanced within the roster period.

26. To deputise in the absence of the Sister / Charge Nurse.
27. To manage own time and that of others, through delegations to ensure high quality service delivery.
28. To act as assessor/supervisor for junior staff and students.

30. Support the departments appraisal process for junior staff, by providing feedback.
31. To be flexible in the delivery of safe staffing across the Trust and participate in redeployment requirements within scope of practice
RESEARCH & AUDIT
32. To contribute to the collection of data for research and audit purposes.
33. To identify audit topics relevant to the ward/department.
34. To critically evaluate research before applying to clinic practice in order to enhance patient care.
35. To identify areas for self-development, areas of interest and training requirements within individual personal performance planning and development review.
36. To maintain a professional portfolio and reflective diary for developmental purposes and revalidation.
