About the Role - Freight Packer:
Right Now Group are currently recruiting for a client seeking a hands-on, motivated individual to join their team as a Case Maker. This is an excellent opportunity for someone eager to learn and develop in the export packaging industry. As a Freight Packer, you will receive training to create export cases and ensure goods are packaged to meet customer requirements and shipping specifications.
This position also requires occasional driving of the company pick-up truck to collect pallets and shipments from the airline for repair. The role offers long-term potential, with a temp-to-perm opportunity for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities for Freight Packer:
* Construct export cases using materials such as wood, plywood, metal, or plastic based on shipping specifications.
* Customise cases to ensure goods are protected during transit, factoring in size, weight, fragility, and nature of items.
* Measure and cut materials accurately using saws, drills, and other woodworking tools.
* Assemble case components including sidewalls, base, lid, hinges, locks, and handles, ensuring structural stability.
* Reinforce cases with internal cushioning and shock-absorbing materials to safeguard fragile items.
* Inspect completed cases for defects and ensure compliance with quality standards before shipment.
* Occasionally drive the company pick-up truck to collect freight from the airline for repair and return it after completion.
* Communicate with customers via email as needed.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* A hands-on attitude with an interest in construction tasks, woodworking, and packaging.
* Willingness to use hand tools and operate power tools safely.
* Physical fitness with the ability to lift and carry heavy objects, and the capability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
* Basic IT literacy.
* A full UK driving licence (you will be required to drive the company pick-up truck).
* A clear DBS check and a full 5-year checkable history.
