What you’ll be doing This is an exciting opportunity to join the Product Strategy & Implementation team as a Configuration Analyst for our cloud-based GIS tool, InSite Everywhere. You will be a core part of our delivery team for InSite Everywhere. Our next generation solution hosted in the cloud allows our clients to undertake key demographic analysis of current and proposed retail locations with on-the-fly catchment creation through a variety of travel models, and output, through both an interactive mapping interface and reporting functionality (utilising PowerBI) This role sits within the Product Strategy & Implementation team, but you will also be working closely with the InSite Solutions Group who develop and manage InSite desktop systems and have worked, supported and evolved with clients for well over 25 years. It is important to build an appreciation of what sits behind the system and how our clients get value from the outputs, so that you can form a judgement of whether the system output looks sensible and will stand up to rigorous testing, both internally and externally, whilst always looking for ways to improve Working with stakeholders both internally and externally, you will be actively contributing to geodemographic decision making across the public and private sectors. You will be responsible for building, configuring and maintaining a variety of different systems, gaining experience with many stages of the build process from data processing to quality assurance, report design and you will work to improve the configuration and deployment of these systems. Who you are The ideal candidate would enjoy collaborative and independent technical work in an agile project environment. You would leverage an understanding of spatial data, together with database and GIS skills to implement SaaS instances to client specifications. You are solution orientated and can interpret client requirements into datasets and system configurations. You collaborate with team members and stakeholders to deliver efficiently and transparently, often handling multiple configurations in parallel. You are self-motivated and enjoy learning new skills and improving processes. Your skills, knowledge, and experience It is important that you have: Previous work experience in a spatial data processing, location analytics and GIS, or in a system configuration and support role where data preparation is a key feature. Familiarity with relational databases and SQL. Experience working in cloud environments such as AWS. Self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, with a positive, "can do" attitude. Good communication skills with colleagues both verbally and in writing, including documenting best practice and system training. You are a self-starter and willing to bring new ideas to the business to develop your colleagues and the wider team. Demonstrate a creative curiosity and passion for your role. Whilst not essential, the following skills would also be desirable. Experience of PostgreSQL/PostGIS SQL to produce database queries, creating tables, views and database structures Managing programme code and scripts in repository software, e.g. Git, GitLab, GitHub Previous Python experience, especially using data analysis and modelling packages Using desktop and web-based GIS platforms for building maps and reports from spatial data Ability to build and publish reports and dashboards with PowerBI.
