The Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team at Amazon is essential for operational continuity, maintaining vital machinery. As an RME Technician, your responsibilities include maintaining equipment, ensuring safety, and minimizing machine downtime. Your work will improve equipment availability and operational environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform proactive and preventative maintenance on site equipment
* Carry out reactive repairs and fault diagnosis in a live warehouse environment
* Utilize modern tools to optimize equipment effectiveness
* Adhere to health and safety policies and procedures
* Support the development of on-site apprentices
* Participate in continuous improvement projects and implement best practices across EU sites
A Day in the Life
Based on-site, RME Technicians respond swiftly to machinery issues, conducting planned maintenance and troubleshooting breakdowns. They propose long-term improvements and may perform tasks like painting and plumbing, liaising with external contractors as needed. Shifts vary to ensure 24/7 site support, enabling Amazon’s rapid delivery service.
About the Team
The RME team maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs equipment across Amazon’s fulfillment centers. The team comprises skilled professionals working on innovative technology, including automated systems and robotics, with opportunities for career progression and leadership roles. Our focus is on minimizing operational downtime to ensure timely customer deliveries, often requiring night or early morning shifts.
Minimum Qualifications
* Full Engineering apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (City & Guilds, SVQ/IVQ) or equivalent in a relevant engineering field
* Relevant experience as a qualified engineer
* Experience in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance
* Proficiency in the local language, both spoken and written
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications are not mandatory but include:
* HNC, HND, BSc, BEng or equivalent
* Experience in condition-based monitoring
* Experience with print and apply machines
* Experience in fault-finding and maintaining conveyor or automation systems
