The nurse educator is an exciting post developed to support the expansion of the St. John's DermAcademy educational portfolio. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced nurse to share their passion for clinical education in a progressive, dynamic multi-professional team. The post holder will bring clinical expertise in dermatology, first-hand teaching experience, along with vision and enthusiasm to produce and deliver high quality, multi-modal clinical education. The post holder will have the option to undertake a post-graduate certificate in education during their tenure in the role, developing their professional portfolio and leadership in clinical education. This post is offered as part-time, fixed-term for 12 months. Internal secondments considered.
Main duties of the job
1. Be a source of highly specialist clinical and educational knowledge and take an active teaching role in the provision of St John’s DermAcademy training programmes for nurses and allied health care professionals.
2. Take a leadership role and project manage the design and delivery of St John’s DermAcademy patient and public educational initiatives, including the patient and public webinar series and the patient education video programme.
3. Raise the profile of St John’s DermAcademy as a core education and training provider locally, nationally and internationally.
4. Lead and take responsibility for the established in-service educational events (e.g. Dermatology Nursing Grand Round).
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The nurse educator will be responsible for supporting the development of, and coordinating the delivery of educational initiatives for a nursing and allied healthcare professional (AHP) audience within the St John’s DermAcademy portfolio. They will project manage the design and delivery of a programme of patient education video resources and a series of patient and public engagement initiatives. The post holder will be responsible for monitoring and reviewing educational delivery standards, reporting on performance and instituting remedial action where necessary. They will provide leadership and motivation for high quality dermatology clinical practice, through the development of up to date, evidence-based learning content, with opportunities for cross-specialty learning and collaboration within the trust and beyond.

Qualifications
* RN1 or RN Child Registered Nurse on the NMC register. To hold the appropriate level for the area of speciality.
* BSC/1st degree (health related) or equivalent qualification/training and experience.
* To have or working towards a masters degree.
Experience
* Extensive experience of working autonomously at an advanced level within dermatology specialist area delivering effective patient focused care.
* Proven evidence of teaching to healthcare professional groups.
* Experience in planning educational programmes or developing learning outcomes / competency frameworks.
Skills
* Evidence of teaching skills in particular teaching patients in how to manage their conditions and raise their awareness of their condition.
* Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex information in an understandable way to a range of stakeholders.
* Ability to conduct & evaluate own projects successfully.
* Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work independently using own initiative.
* Ability to develop quality indicators, criteria and methods for analysis and reporting.
