Our client has a new position within their manufacturing business for an experienced Caretaker or Handy Person to join their expanding team on a full time permanent basis. Working as a Caretaker you will be reporting into the Facilities Manager and will be responsible for working alongside them day to day. Duties will include:
1. Perform basic maintenance tasks such as painting, minor carpentry, and basic plumbing.
2. Assist skilled maintenance personnel in repairing and maintaining equipment and facilities.
3. Assist the Facilities Manager with the installation of cables and pipework.
4. Carry out minor repairs to machinery, equipment, and building structures as directed in liaison with the Facilities Manager.
5. Ensure workshop and maintenance areas are kept clean, organized, and hazard-free.
6. Perform general housekeeping tasks in the facility, including clearing debris and maintaining safe walkways.
7. Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while performing maintenance tasks.
8. Identify and report any potential safety hazards to the Manager.
As a Caretaker you will be required to have:
1. Previous experience in a similar role.
2. Basic knowledge and experience in general maintenance tasks (e.g., painting, carpentry, plumbing, or similar trades).
3. Ability to use hand tools and basic power tools safely and efficiently.
4. Understanding of workplace health and safety standards.
5. Good problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.
6. Reliable, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
7. Experience of FLT or if not happy to undergo training to gain certification.
This role would suit someone with previous experience working as a handy person, facilities labourer or caretaker.
