A very exciting opportunity has arisen for an inspirational and dynamic Assistant Headteacher (Pupil Learning and Achievement) to join our team and make a significant contribution across Years 5 to 8 at Hexham Middle School. We are looking for a driven, enthusiastic and ambitious professional who places pupil success at the heart of what they do. The Assistant Headteacher will join the senior leadership team and will be responsible for shaping our pupils to be respectful young people who have a strong engagement in their learning and achievement and who have high aspirations for themselves and their futures.
The postholder will have responsibility for pupil learning and achievement across the school. If you are motivated to secure the best possible outcomes for all pupils, interested in implementing best practice in teaching and assessment and driven to ensure that the most vulnerable and disadvantaged pupils achieve very well, this is a significant opportunity for you to have whole school impact.
Key areas of responsibility:
· Ensuring that pupils achieve well, and that this is reflected in outcomes at KS2 and KS3.
· Ensuring rigorous and well-planned assessment and reporting processes across the school.
· Ensuring that all data gathered and analysed leads to improved outcomes and has sustained impact for pupils across the school.
· Leading the school’s assessment programme and ensuring that assessments (including KS2 SATs) are well-planned to ensure the best possible outcomes for pupils.
· Leading the school’s reading curriculum and strategy including whole school approaches to improving pupils’ literacy.
· Leading the academic support provision, including intervention programmes and catch-up support and tuition, and leadership of the academic support team.
· Ensuring that pupils achieve well in Key Stage 2 and progress successfully into Key Stage 3, with a particular focus on English and maths achievement.
We are a large and flourishing middle school set in the historical market town of Hexham and are co-located with Queen Elizabeth High School as part of Hadrian Learning Trust. In September 2021, we moved into brand new school buildings with state-of-the-art learning facilities. You will be at the forefront of school leadership across all year groups and will be responsible for building on the excellent academic achievements of our pupils. You will support the leadership of the consistent implementation of our ambitious curriculum to ensure the intended impact for all pupils. You will work with colleagues, children and their parents/carers to build strong, positive relationships to enable all children to fulfil their potential. You will be ambitious for the success of all learners and will establish an environment where high expectations are embedded, with a particular focus on pupils who face disadvantage, have additional needs and vulnerabilities.
