Job overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Band 5 Mental Health Practitioner to join our dynamic Children and Young Peoples Mental Health Service (CYPMHS) team at Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. This role involves providing high-quality mental health care to children and young people aged 0-18, conducting assessments, developing care plans, and delivering therapeutic interventions.
The successful candidate will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to support young people with a range of emotional, psychological, and behavioral difficulties. You will have the opportunity to work in a rewarding environment, contributing to the well-being and development of young people, while receiving support and supervision to further your professional growth.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct mental health and risk assessments.
* Deliver evidence-based interventions.
* Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
* Contribute to care planning and review processes.
* Registered Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist, or Social Worker with relevant professional body registration.
* Passion for working with children and young people in a mental health setting.
Main duties of the job
* A high level of enthusiasm and dedication to providing quality, community-based mental health services to children, young people, and their families.
* Experience in providing interventions & formulations to address the needs of the client group.
* Experience of working with children and young people who, due to their mental and emotional health needs, present with a level of clinical risk.
* Experience of working under pressure and in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
* The skill to adapt and the flexibility to think on your feet due to the nature of your role.
* Access to transport or the ability to travel to a variety of venues as part of the working day.

Person specification
Qualifications
* Qualified in a core profession (Social Work, Nurse, Allied Health Professional).
* Professional registration with recognised National Body (HCPC, NMC, Social Work England).
* Psychology or other mental health related undergraduate degree.
* Nationally recognised post-qualification, continuous professional development (CPD) related to the core profession.
Knowledge and Expertise
* Knowledge of child psychology and development.
* Demonstrates an understanding of young people's anxiety and depression and how it may present.
* Demonstrate an understanding of parenting and behaviour management interventions.
* Demonstrates a knowledge of the impact of multisystemic issues such as home, school, and community.
* Knowledge of child protection issues, safeguarding and other relevant legislation.
* Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence-based psychological and systemic therapies.
Experience
* Experience of safeguarding vulnerable people.
* Experience of multi-agency working.
* Experience of working in a mental health and/or CYP setting.
* Evidence of working in the local community.
* Experience of routine outcome monitoring.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
