Job Summary
The Patient and Carer Race Equity Framework (PCREF) launched in October 2023 as NHS England's first ever anti-racism framework for all NHS mental health trusts to embed. This pivotal new role in GMMH will provide leadership for coproducing and implementing our implementation plan to reduce racial inequalities within our services. GMMH has been a pilot site for the PCREF and is further driving the delivery of its first year plan by recruiting a designated lead who will drive forward the plans to tackle systemic inequalities in service provision through use of NHS data and lived experience.
This is an exciting time to join GMMH as it moves forward on its improvement journey with a new executive leadership team and a focus on recovery from current national oversight.
This role and the workplan aligned to engagement, representation and community voices is one example of how GMMH will ensure it is responding to all communities and specifically hears from the global majority and their experiences of our care.
You will need to have a credible community presence, working across numerous community groups to build new relationships, build trust and demonstrate active listening. Your stance on racism and tackling inequalities needs to be honest, transparent and engaging.
Main duties of the job
You will need to engage with clinical staff and corporate staff on sometimes difficult subjects, conveying hard to hear information and stories. Experience of developing reporting structures and writing reports is essential as you will report up to and including Trust Board.
If you have experience working in the field of racial inequalities, mental health and a strong track record of building and engaging with individuals, communities and services with a passion for race equity and human rights, then this is the post for you.
Due to the nature of this role it is advised that you would need to be a resident of Greater Manchester and able to travel around the city. There are limited opportunities for home working in this role.
In return you will join a growing engagement and experience team with links across our care groups who deliver a wide range of services. We will ensure you have good supervision and development in the role.
