We are looking for a skilled Workshop Technician to join a Cambridge based company supporting R&D activities within their laboratories. You will work closely with other members of the technical team to provide key support and guidance.
Responsibilities
1. Supporting research with design, development and manufacture of experimental equipment, sourcing and ordering components for mechanical rigs and collating results.
2. Maintenance and running of labs, providing training on equipment when required, offering technical advice and maintaining adequate stocks.
3. Ensuring codes of practice and safety regulations are implemented.
4. Manufacture of parts and specimens, selecting the most appropriate materials, components and manufacturing methods to make specialist parts for mechanical engineering rigs to a high quality, taking into account performance, time and available funding.
Requirements
1. Educated to HNC / HND level with a recognised apprenticeship in mechanical engineering or similar practical experience.
2. Sound IT and communication skills.
3. Practical experience in general engineering research and the ability to teach / train others.
4. Familiar with a wide range of workshop machinery and techniques.
5. Ability to manufacture parts to a high degree of precision and accuracy.
6. Experience with CNC machinery and manual machining.
