Job Description
Are you passionate about making a difference to the lives of people facing homelessness?
Can you work in a fast-paced environment?
The demand for the Housing Options Service is increasing and we think it will continue to do so for some time to come.
We recognise the need to develop our service in response to increased demand and are committed to developing creative and innovative ways to prevent and relieve homelessness.
We are investing in additional resources to ensure deliverability of our aims and we have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Community Connections Officer. This role will support the delivery of the statutory homelessness service through line management of Community Connections Officers.
We are seeking people who have a proven track record of working within challenging frontline housing services and have good experience of partnership working. Based in the Housing Options Team you will provide support to the team in relation to housing law and the prevention and relief of homelessness. You will also support the management team in understanding local patterns and trends in homelessness so that services can be targeted where need is greatest.
What we are looking for:
1. Excellent communicators who will give clear and concise advice to the team, other council staff, external agencies and homelessness applicants.
2. A good understanding of housing and homelessness legislation, the Equality Act and other related legislation.
3. Ability to prioritise tasks due to competing demands whilst maintaining service standards.
4. Natural problem solvers who can think creatively to offer resolutions and be innovative in offering solutions.
5. Demonstrable experience of working with clients with complex needs in the community.
6. This role requires working with vulnerable people, so an awareness of safeguarding is essential.
In your response you must refer to the person specification and give examples of how you meet the essential criteria; you will be shortlisted according to this criteria. A background in Housing Management would be advantageous for this role.
This role is suitable for flexible working subject to the needs of the service.
The Disclosure & Barring Service Check requirement for this post is: Basic Check.
