Who are we?
At Sefton Council, we pride ourselves on being an inclusive and forward-thinking local authority, which places a strong emphasis on collaboration, innovation, and personal growth. Our teams are dedicated to making Sefton a better place for everyone, and we want you to be a part of this exciting journey.
Sefton as a Place to Live and Work
Boasting 22 miles of stunning coastline, Sefton is a leading coastal tourist destination with a flourishing visitor economy. Spanning the busy Port of Liverpool, the famous Antony Gormley’s ‘Another Place’ installation, attractive beaches and dunes, to the resort town of Southport, the diversity of the Borough provides a unique mix of urban and natural setting.
With excellent transport links, Sefton is well placed for accessing cities across the Northwest, including Liverpool and Manchester.

The Role - A Complex Lives Social Worker
This is an innovative, exciting opportunity to develop a new role at the interface of Adult Social Care and our homelessness services working with individuals that often require support due to a combination of factors such as housing, health, social care, and support services. “Complex Lives” is a term that describes the overlap of a particular set of difficulties and behaviours including poor mental and physical health. Within Sefton, we have dedicated Multi-Disciplinary Teams which have been newly developed to support individuals who have complex needs and can support them out of being stuck in a negative cycle.
The position will be aligned to our Adult Social Care First Contact Team, but link in with homeless services and the Complex Lives MDTs. We believe that this is an interesting role and offers excellent opportunity to develop the services we offer to individuals who may experience complex issues and consequently have a real impact individually and shape future services.
If you are interested in this opportunity please either email andrew.mcdonald@sefton.gov.uk or telephone: 07977 237816.
