Role: Functional Skills Tutor Location: Exeter Contract: Full time, permanent, 37.5 hours a week Salary: £120 - £135 per day (depending on experience and qualifications) Are you a passionate and experienced tutor looking to support learning in achieving their full potential? We are seeking a dedicated Functional Skills Tutor to deliver Maths and English sessions to students with additional needs, helping them build confidence and progress towards formal qualifications such as Functional Skills and GCSE’s. About the role: As a Functional Skills Tutor, you will play a pivotal role in delivering engaging and high-quality teaching in English and Maths, helping students develop their core skills while also supporting their personal growth. This role is a rewarding opportunity to work in a supportive, inclusive environment with a strong focus on life skills and employability training. You will be working with post-16 students who will be working at a range of academic levels. Key responsibilities: Plan and deliver engaging sessions in Maths and English (with scope to cover additional subjects like PSHE, life skills and employability skills) Support students on 1:1 basis and in small groups, tailoring learning plans to individual needs Assess and monitor progress, ensuring students reach their personal and academic goals Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to improve teaching practices and outcomes Maintain a positive, supportive learning environment that challenges and encourages students to succeed Engage with students and staff to promote student development and the programme’s wider impact in the community About you: The ideal candidate will have: A level 4 teaching qualification (CTTLS or equivalent) and at least one year of teaching experience in functional skills A passion for working with diverse learners, including those with disabilities Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with students and colleagues A flexible and creative approach to teaching, with the ability to adapt to the individual needs of students A full UK driving licence and access to a car (desirable but not essential) This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to make a real difference, supporting learners to achieve essential qualifications and develop key life skills.
