Kandu's accredited alternative Education Provision programme and afterschool, and holiday engagement activities programmes provide a lifeline for young people who may otherwise lack access to enriching activities and for whom due to additional needs or life experiences, formal education settings are presently not appropriate.
Through grant funding, commissions, sponsorship and donations Kandu delivers a diverse range of services. This includes organisational consultancy, training, music, art, films, mentorship, and sports (events and participatory experiences) nurturing creativity personal and organisational growth among participants.
General Duties and Responsibilities
Full administrative duties, teamwork, confidentiality and support are essential to the smooth running of the organisation and all staff are required to play an active part. The ideal candidate will be expected to:
Ensure that all activities are carried out within agreed Kandu policies and procedures e.g. equal opportunities, confidentiality and health and safety, safeguarding
Maintain regular contact with the Director and Project Manager regarding all term time provision, holiday, drop-in and after-school activities and wider community events and activities.
Provide monitoring/evaluation information as required.
Attend staff meetings, supervision, and training as agreed
Act independently on their own initiative within the remit of their administrative role.

Essential
• Experience of supporting colleagues
• Knowledge and experience of reviewing and recording qualitative and quantitative outcomes for an organisation
• To be able to set up or maintain appropriate systems for the management and accurate recording
• Confident and competent IT user - Microsoft Word, Excel
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with people
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• High level of personal and professional organisation skills
• Self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative
• The ability to work to deadlines and under pressure
• Effective team member
• Experience of handling sensitive and confidential information and understanding of GDPR
Desirable Criteria
• Experience of working within the third sector and or Education or community groups
• An understanding of mental health issues
• Experience in working within the Arts or a creative field or Sport.
Safeguarding requirements
Kandu Arts are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults, and expects all staf and volunteers to share this commitment.
The successful applicant will be required to go through a robust vetting process e.g. they will be required to have an enhanced DBS check. There is strict staff behaviour policy.
Safeguarding requirements for this role are to ensure that all staff and contractors are DBS checked, references taken, safer recruitment processes followed, and safeguarding training completed and maintained.
The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
