Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the team manager post in the Darlington community Learning Disability team which is a key leadership and management role within the Durham Tees Valley Adult Learning Disability Services.
The community Learning Disability team provides specialist support to adult with a diagnosed learning disability, working closely with families, carers as well as social care colleagues from Darlington Borough Council to support individuals in the community to improve their overall wellbeing and quality of life.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be a forward thinking innovative person with excellent communication skills and highly experienced in terms of managing a multi-disciplinary health team.
The appointed person will be a strong, dynamic leader with a proven record of effective leadership and experience of change management supporting and service improvement.
To improve the lives of people with mental ill health and/or learning disabilities by minimising the impact of their condition through effective clinical leadership and management of the development and delivery of excellent services to promote recovery and wellbeing for all service users.
To be professionally accountable and responsible for the delivery of the clinical service by the clinical team.
To be responsible for the operational management of the team within budgeted resources and including the effective line management of the team.
To lead practice development and service development initiatives to ensure continual quality improvement as an integral part of the Trust's Quality Improvement System.
To provide an environment and culture where patients, carers and staff can raise concerns and be confident that: they will be listened to respectfully
To provide direct patient care whilst modelling appropriate clinical behaviours to other staff

Qualifications
Essential
1. Current professional registration with appropriate body in healthcare or social work or relevant professional clinical qualification (ie PWP/CWP in IAPT/Getting Help services)
2. Be Educated to Master's level in leadership or a subject area relevant to the area of practice OR Have equivalent clinical experience to that of masters level such as working as a band 6 (or above) in relevant clinical area with significant experience - which also includes significant experience of managing people (see below under experience), together with evidence of CPD
3. Be trained in Clinical Supervision and Providing Clinical Supervision
4. Be a Recognised Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor

5. Significant experience of managing people
6. Significant experience of working with patients with complex needs in the specialist field
7. Significant experience working with patients who display risk behaviours
8. Working collaboratively with others (external partners, staff service users and their families/carers)
9. Evidence of delivering supervision
10. Working knowledge of the legal framework and statutory obligations under the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and other relevant legislation
11. Detailed understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice
12. Risk assessment and management and its application in practice
13. Working knowledge of clinical medicines management
14. Developing, maintaining and auditing standards of practice
