Job Title: Surveying and Sales Manager (Roofing)
Location: Taylor Roofs, 3 Firth Road, Houstoun Industrial Estate, Livingston, EH54 5DJ
Reporting to: Managing Director
Salary: Up to £50,000 with Company Vehicle & Business Fuel Card
Hours: Monday to Friday 7.00am to 5.00pm
Job Purpose:
The Surveying and Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing the estimating and surveying functions within Taylor Roofs, ensuring accurate cost assessments on job quoting, effective pricing strategies, and profitability on all projects. This role involves leading a team, liaising with clients, and improving processes to enhance operational efficiency and financial performance.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
1. Lead the team in preparing accurate and competitive job pricing for all roofing quotations.
2. Analyse customer quotations and identify any areas of improvement.
3. Ensure quote estimates align with company profitability targets and industry benchmarks.
4. Identify any risks and opportunities within each job quotation and ensure any mitigation strategies are in place.
5. Oversee site surveys to assess job scope, risks, and costs associated with the required works.
6. Ensure precise measurement and assessment of materials, labour, and costs for each project.
7. Lead, mentor, and develop the team, focusing on sales improvement and product awareness.
8. Implement best practices in estimating and surveying processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
9. Monitor performance metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Skills & Experience:
1. Proven experience in estimating, surveying or roofing sales within the construction/roofing industry.
2. Strong understanding of roofing, pricing structures, and industry regulations.
3. Excellent numerical, analytical, and negotiation skills.
4. Strong leadership and team management abilities.
5. Proficient in estimating and surveying software – ideally with experience in Job Watch Big Change software.
6. Strong communication and management skills.
7. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Desirable Qualifications:
1. Degree/HND in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a Roofing/Sales related field.
2. Relevant professional certifications (e.g., RICS, CIOB) would be an advantage.
3. Qualification in Roofing/Roof Estimating/Roof Sales.
