About the Unit
Yara Pocklington has a world-class Safety Culture, with 11 years without a recordable incident. It is part of the global company Yara International ASA and is a leader in the product development, manufacture and marketing of speciality nutrients & biostimulant products for use in regenerative agriculture worldwide. The business has grown significantly in recent years and has continued ambitious growth objectives for its Biological products. To meet this growth, a new Global Production plant is currently being built in Howden, UK.
We are seeking a new HESQ Manager to continue this safety journey, leading both Pocklington and the new Howden site, which will be Upper Tier COMAH. The successful candidate will lead and manage all aspects of the health, safety, welfare, and environmental issues for the Pocklington & Howden sites, including the sites’ COMAH intervention strategy, with a strong emphasis on CDOIF and Environmental Risk Assessment.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the sites’ Operations Director, key responsibilities will be:
1. Lead the site safety culture through Yara’s ‘Safe By Choice’ program of Behaviour Based Safety, safety committees, systematic inspections, and shared learnings.
2. Draft, maintain, and manage the COMAH Safety Report.
3. Manage stakeholder relationships with Competent Authorities (HSE & EA).
4. Ensure full compliance with legal and Yara Global Operating Standards.
5. Develop, lead, and monitor risk assessment programs on site.
6. Full responsibility for Occupational and Process Safety on the site, reporting via the Yara global indices.
7. Super User for the sites’ performance, monitoring, and action management via the Yara Safety Database.
8. Lead incident investigations with root cause analysis, facilitating corrective and preventative actions.
9. Ensure that Management of Change procedures are understood and applied when undertaking projects, process modifications, and any other changes to the physical plant or its organization.
10. Ensure contractors operate on site within corporate safety rules.
11. Provide stewardship on Permit to Work system, LOTO, and machinery safety (PUWER, LOLER, etc).
12. Lead the Integrated Management System (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 accreditations).
13. Lead Business Risk Management with peers.
Profile
1. A degree in Engineering or a Science.
2. NEBOSH Diploma.
3. Ideally experience operating within an Upper Tier COMAH site.
4. Working knowledge of Human factors, both in design and scope of both existing plant operations and MPPC for equipment.
5. PHR/HAZOP and LOPA lead.
6. Functional safety - Competent in SIS, SIF, and SIL design reviews.
Additional Information
The position additionally will have the Quality Control Manager and Regulatory Affairs Manager both reporting to the successful candidate, who in turn each manage their respective teams to ensure product and process quality is achieved in compliance with all relevant legislation.
