Do you want to help WSP to help healthcare providers plan and deliver world class, future ready healthcare facilities?
Our Healthcare Advisory team works in the UK, primarily with NHS clients across primary, community, acute and mental health sectors, to:
1. provide healthcare planning ranging from market analysis, activity and capacity modelling to SOAs and design development support;
2. coordinate and write business cases to secure capital funding for investment in new healthcare developments;
3. develop estate strategies from PCN through NHS Trust to ICS-wide;
4. plan moves into new hospitals;
5. provide PPP consultancy support;
6. all underpinned by solid project and programme management skills.
We have ambitious growth plans and a strong pipeline of work and now need to recruit to between Senior and Principal levels in our Healthcare Advisory team. We are looking for dynamic, ambitious candidates with experience, ideally with a property/construction consultancy, in two or more of the following disciplines:
1. healthcare planning (primary care, mental health, acute services)
2. estate strategy development
3. business case development (primary care or larger acute projects)
4. operational commissioning
5. PPP technical / commercial consultancy support
This is an opportunity to join a growing team in a dynamic, forward thinking company and provide specialist capital project consultancy services and related technical advice to clients on their estate strategies and capital projects. The position is based in London or Birmingham with hybrid-working or office-based options.
You will either work largely independently on commissions or work as part of a team on projects supporting our clients. You will have a good understanding of the UK healthcare market and current issues in relation to property and capital projects. You will have the opportunity to develop your career with formal and informal training and support and take on more challenging and independent work as your skills and confidence grow.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
1. UK/NHS health sector experience working for a professional services consultancy.
2. Proven ability and track record working with clients to deliver two or more of the following services:
1. healthcare planning services on primary care, mental health, acute services, including:
1. activity modelling
2. capacity planning
3. patient flow modelling
4. service model development
5. preparing and agreeing schedules of accommodation
6. preparing adjacency matrices
7. preparing design brief documents
8. 1:500, 1:200 and 1:50 design support and reviews with architects and clinical user groups
9. completing derogations reports that make the case for any derogations required
10. space utilisation studies
3. estate strategy development, including familiarity with SHAPE
4. business case development (primary care or larger acute projects)
5. operational commissioning
6. PPP technical / commercial consultancy support
1. Experience in helping to prepare elements of tender submissions and preparing and delivering presentations to win new work.
2. Degree qualified.
3. One or more of: PRINCE 2 Practitioner, MSP, APMPQ, Better Business Cases Practitioner, MSc Planning Buildings for Health
4. Knowledge of NHS property and capital project policy, processes, guidance and stakeholders
5. An understanding of construction and the property lifecycle
6. Able to research, analyse data and present findings verbally, in writing or graphically
7. Comfortable co-facilitating workshops or chairing meetings
8. Numerate and comfortable with spreadsheets
9. Able to prepare project plans and programmes
10. An understanding of risk and risk management techniques
