We have a position available in our Health and Justice Service. We are looking for a person with lived experience to join our team. We are looking for a motivated and skilled individual to work alongside an exciting service which will be a partnership provided by Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT) and North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust (NSCHT). Working as part of the new service, it will be your role to support the mental wellbeing and act as a mentor for those within the criminal justice system. Those who come into contact with the criminal justice system are far more likely to have unmet health and social care needs than the general population. By understanding and addressing those needs, we can reduce reoffending and help our service users on their recovery journey. The role is primarily will be based within the Liaison and Diversion pathway, however with potential to rotate into other areas of the service. Please note, we are unable to provide sponsorship for this role due to the required Skill Level and salary threshold Main duties of the job This service aims to add value, purpose and direction to people's lives. The Peer Workers need to have personal experience of the criminal justice system (at a minimum arrested) and personal experience within mental health, learning disabilities, substance misuse or another vulnerability. The Peer Worker must also be abstinent from all illicit substances, in active recovery for a minimum of 6 months and not to have been involved in offending for at least 12 months.
